Tiny Tigers have a different belt progression than the regular Tigers curriculum has. The belt progression for Tiny Tigers, which is the 4 to 7 age group, is as follows:

From White Belt to Orange Stripe

  • Demonstrate basic stances (walking, horseback and ready)
  • Demonstrate single, double and triple middle punches
  • Demonstrate front kick, side kick
  • Demonstrate basic blocks (high, low)
  • Use of voice, safety position, defense techniques for belt level
  • Two releases (two-hand grabs)
  • Orange Stripe form
  • Board break
  • Basic Korean for belt level techniques
  • Parent’s Birthdays

From Orange Stripe to Blue Stripe

All previous requirements, and

  • Sparring stance, horseback stance
  • High, middle and low punches; palm strike
  • Jump front, jump side, double front kicks
  • Full inside block, inside and outside block from safety position
  • Bear hug releases, cross wrist grab
  • Blue Stripe form
  • Board break
  • Basic Korean for belt level techniques
  • Parent’s Birthdays

From Blue Stripe to Red Stripe

All previous requirements, and

  • Front stance
  • Right and left punch/jab/cross
  • Round, double round, kick combinations in sparring stance
  • Knife hand blocks, middle blocks
  • High block release, takedowns (right and left)
  • Poomse Kibon
  • Board break
  • Basic Korean for belt level techniques
  • Parent’s Birthdays

From Red Stripe to Yellow Belt (8th Gup)

All previous requirements, and

  • Back stance, cat stance
  • Knife hand strikes, back fist
  • Step side kick, 360 round kick
  • Palm blocks
  • Traps, releases, takedowns
  • Poomse Il Jang
  • Board break
  • Basic Korean for belt level techniques
